The Ethan Stickle Scholarship Fund prioritizes the protection and care of underserved performing artist's mental health in their journey as working artists.
Many performing artists compromise or sacrifice their artistry in order to maintain financial stability. However, being disconnected from one's art often negatively affects an artist's mental health. The Ethan Stickle Scholarship Fund will raise funds and awareness regarding the importance of paying our performing artists fair and liveable wages as well as providing stipends for them to create their own works while receiving professional development within their artistic disciplines. This scholarship fund will also invest in resources that better support artists who struggle with their mental health.
Ethan Stickle was a best friend and close confidant of Nexus' Director of Arts Entertainment, Kenny Males. Ethan faithfully supported Nexus and deeply believed in its mission. He never missed a Nexus event, performance, charity raffle or opportunity to donate. Ethan strongly believed in equity, social justice and representation. Though he worked in pharmaceuticals, Ethan was an avid supporter of the arts, belonging to the Lyric Opera's subscription series while always enjoying a performance from the balcony. Before his untimely passing, Ethan was writing a creative fiction novel that he was hoping to publish. We hope to honor Ethan's life and legacy by dedicating this scholarship in his name.
Rest in Power, Ethan.
